This is why, I don’t leave the house,
You say the coast is clear, but you won’t catch me out-
Except for when Paramore is on tour, and coming to my city!!!

I’ve been a Paramore fan since- do I even have to say it? The answer is obvious. The release of Misery Business! That song will forever be a favorite of mine- along with everyone else- and it is officially bookmarked as part of my high school experience. Just like when we hear our parents tell stories of how they followed bands they loved and went to their concerts, and had posters in their rooms of the singers they found HOT and attractive… (while it’s also funny and odd to think of our parents as once being young and not tired after every little thing they do).. it’s like the happiness and fullness those nostalgic experiences brought them is contagious as they recount their memories, and before you know it, you find yourself smiling as they tell their stories. Well, I’ve got news for you folks!!! In a few more years, that will be us too!! So you better get your asses out to see your favorite bands and “be about that life” of doing the things you love to do while your knees still work!

The band as a whole has changed overtime and has been through a lot since 2007 (I mean who hasn’t?!), with members leaving and re-joining, inter-band relationships beginning and ending, drama, members being burnt out, divorces, depression, and hiatuses, but it is one of the bands I still listen to constantly as an adult to this day.

Being 1 person of thousands in a sold-out arena, we all had one thing in common… Paramore. Hayley made a serious statement during the show that really resonated with me- while she wore a tourists’ foam statue of liberty headband- and it was the fact that she was grateful and proud to be part of the band throughout all these years of ups and downs they’ve endured together, when they grew not only musically as a band, but also as individuals, just as the fans did. She was unashamed of all the times she fell in and out of love with the wrong and right people, tried new curiosities and adventures, reached goals, and she stood in front of everyone as one of the most humble musicians I’ve had the pleasure of seeing in person. I always say food and music are 2 of the universal languages that can get people together regardless of nationality, race, gender identity, etc. I was part of such a diverse crowd of people that evening, and everyone got along and was accepting of each other. Song after song, we all chanted along to the lyrics that got us through depression and heartbreak, failures and achievements, and we all left barely able to talk at almost midnight when the show ended. This was such a valuable and memorable experience for me, and I’m so grateful to have afforded the experience for myself. I was seriously tempted to see them AGAIN at another tour stop and make a road trip excuse out of it. If they are heading to your city on their tour, go check them out!! I promise you won’t regret it. And your older self will thank you when you tell these stories to your kids and grandchildren.
